NASA CONNECT™: Breaking Barriers: Solving Linear Equations

Target: Grades 6-8

Length: 30 minutes

Guide: Online, see Internet site

Internet: http://connect.larc.nasa.gov   →

In this episode, students learn about supersonic aircraft while investigating the nature of science. They see how NASA researchers modify their work as they build powerful machines that push hypersonic records to Mach 10 and beyond. They also learn how NASA engineers and scientists use algebraic equations to help build models that will fly faster, longer and higher. By conducting inquiry-based and Web activities, students connect NASA research with the mathematics, science and technology they learn in the classroom.
