In 1992, NASA invited scientists to ponder the possibilities of exploring our solar system, with the intent that the space agency would make it happen. With its Discovery Program, NASA "green-lighted" several missions to explore the solar system. This 30-minute video chronicles the surprising findings from Discovery's 10 missions. Thanks to Discovery, scientists now have atoms of solar wind and particles of comet dust to study, the first space samples returned to Earth since the Apollo program. The video features segments on each Discovery mission, including the study of neighboring planets, comets, and asteroids and the search for planets around other stars.
