Welcome to the Goddard Visitor Center
Work In Progress at the Goddard Visitor Center The transformation is complete. The first phase of the Goddard Visitor Center enhancement project is finished and the exhibit gallery has fully reopened. The renovation brings new exhibits and displays, modifications to existing exhibits, removal of some old exhibits, and a more open floor plan.
A full-size model of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is one of the new exhibits. The model, used in development, testing and construction of the spacecraft now orbiting the moon, is enhanced by interactive computer displays and a wall-size close up view of our moon.
The first component of a new James Webb Space Telescope exhibit has been installed. The exhibit features full color images of astronomical objects as viewed in the infrared as well as an aluminum model of the segments that make up the primary mirror that will enable JWST to look back through time to when galaxies were young.
Other featured missions include Rossi X-ray Timing Experiment and Swift, two space telescopes that study the cosmos in high energy wavelengths. The Visitor Center children's area has also been expanded for even more exploration.
These new additions kick off the most significant transformation to Goddard’s Visitor Center in a number of years. Make sure to stop in and see the completed improvements. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Buckingham. If you have any questions, please e-mail
