Technologies Available for Licensing

JSC has innovations available for licensing in the following technology categories. Many technologies also have partnering opportunities available.


	Aerospace Johnson Space Center is a primary NASA center for the design, development, and testing of spacecraft and associated systems for human spaceflight. Recent aerospace research and development has included docking mechanisms, simulation and analysis software, pilot safety equipment, inflatable vessels and habitats, cryogenic transport, and more. › See technologies available for licensing in the area of aerospace.

	Biotech, Medical, Human Health, and Life Support Johnson Space Center leads NASA’s flight-related scientific and medical research programs, focusing much of its research on technology that benefits human health—both in space and here on Earth. As manned space missions become longer duration and astronauts venture beyond Earth’s orbit, this becomes an increasingly critical issue. 	Clean, Green Environmental Technologies and Power To meet NASA’s mission needs for clean and efficient systems that reduce power demands on spacecraft, researchers at JSC are developing novel energy systems. 	Communications In addition to its role as the NASA lead in human space flight, Johnson Space Center also manages a variety of telecommunications initiatives. 	Consumer Products From personal hydration systems and exercise equipment to technologies for water filtration and making our highways safer, Johnson Space Center’s researchers are developing many technologies that can provide life-improving benefits in the form of consumer products. › See technologies available for licensing in the area of consumer products.

	Electrical With one of its primary roles within NASA being the design, development, and testing of spacecraft, Johnson Space Center has a growing portfolio of electronic technologies. These technologies include field programmable gate arrays, circuits, data acquisition systems, capacitors, electronic controllers, and more. › See technologies available for licensing in the area of electrical.

	Manufacturing Enabling astronauts to perform spacecraft maintenance while in space is challenging from many perspectives. Having the right tools and materials to work with is critical. 	Materials New materials that are strong, lightweight, and versatile are in constant demand for NASA missions. 	Optics Johnson Space Center’s research in the field of optics has focused on improving optical networks and optical filtration and has also resulted in technologies that have benefits in the area of mineral exploration both here on Earth and elsewhere. › See technologies available for licensing in the area of optics.

	Sensors and Robotics Engineers at Johnson Space Center are continually developing new and improved sensors for monitoring all aspects of aerospace systems, emissions, and other critical areas. Tracking and detection system technologies have been developed that may have significant applications outside of NASA. 	Software Many technologies developed at Johnson Space Center have a software component, and much of this software offers possibilities for uses in applications outside of the original design—sometimes numerous applications.
