The Station is crewed by Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Russian Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov.
The Station is a critical stepping-stone for the Vision for Space Exploration. Station research focuses on the effects of microgravity on the human body in preparation for long-duration missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
