Retiree - Herb Gilliam
10.03.09

Herb Gilliam has worked in warehouses all over the world, and the last 22 years that work has been at NASA Langley.

"I think the work has kept me young," said Gilliam, a 68-year-old Tessada and Associates contractor who retired Wednesday.

He came to NASA Langley from across the fence, having finished his 26-year Air Force career by working in warehouses at Langley Air Force Base.

"A couple of guys I knew from the Air Force worked here, and they told me about the job," Gilliam said. "I retired from the Air Force in December of 1986 and went to work here the same month."

His plans for now are indefinite, except "to clean the garage," Gilliam said. "And to go down to my church and see what kind of work they need."
