Pastorek today announced that Doris Wojnarowski, Associate General Counsel for General Law at Headquarters in Washington, will temporarily assist the Department of Transportation with the transition of several agencies to the new Homeland Security Department. "Doris' skills are particularly valuable to Headquarters and the entire agency. However, as part of the Administration's team, I could not decline the request," said Pastorek. "She's a natural choice because of her previous experience at the Transportation Department and the U.S. Coast Guard, which is one of the agencies targeted to move to Homeland Security." Wojnarowski was appointed Associate General Counsel in February 1998, where she was responsible for providing legal advice to NASA management in the areas of personnel, equal employment opportunity, civil rights, environmental law, fiscal law, ethics, safety, security, real and personal property, claims, information disclosure, and other general law matters. She was also responsible for drafting the annual NASA authorization bill. From 1996 to 1998, she served as the Chief of the Management Effectiveness Staff at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, with responsibility for an array of general management issues. From 1994 to 1996, she was the Chief of the Coast Guard's Office of General Law. From 1991 to 1994, Wojnarowski was a senior attorney in the Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Environmental, Civil Rights, and General Law at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Wojnarowski was a staff attorney in the Coast Guard's Office of General Law from 1986 to 1991. She has previous legal experience with the U.S. Department of Education and the Social Security Administration. Wojnarowski is admitted to the Pennsylvania bar. She is a graduate of the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Penn. Wojnarowsk has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and earned a master's degree from the university's Graduate School of Education. -end-
