Kirsten Larson Headquarters, Washington Dec. 21, 2001 (Phone: 202/358-0243) John Ira Petty Johnson Space Center, Houston (Phone: 281/483-5111) RELEASE: c01-cc NASA RESTRUCTURES TRAINING SYSTEMS CONTRACT WITH RAYTHEON NASA recently restructured the Training Systems Contract held by Raytheon Technical Services Company of Houston, adding approximately $33 million in value through April 2005. The restructuring accommodates recent changes in training methods and plans for International Space Station crews. As a result of the restructuring, the contract now has a total estimated potential value of $145.6 million through 2005 if all options are exercised. Raytheon Technical Services Company provides development, maintenance, operations and sustaining engineering of several space station training facilities at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The facilities are used to simulate station systems and flights for future crews and flight controllers. Work under the restructured contract will be performed primarily in Houston. -end-
