Steitz Headquarters, Washington, DC May 29, 2001 (Phone: 202/358-1730) NOTE TO EDITORS: N01-33 NASA ADMINISTRATOR SCHEDULE TO TESTIFY AT ALASKA CLIMATE CHANGE HEARING U.S. Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, is scheduled to hold a hearing today on global climate change on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in the Board of Regents Hall. The day-long hearing begins at 1 p.m. EDT, with NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin scheduled to testify. The Administrator, as well as other senior government officials and scientists, will discuss the nation's efforts in studying the Earth's environment. The committee will hear testimony in order to obtain a record of the scientific research related to global climate change in the arctic region and how climate change is impacting the area.
