Stott takes a moment to pose for a picture beside a habitat window during her April 3-20 stay inside the Aquarius Underwater Laboratory off the coast of Key Largo, Florida. JSC2006-E-13167 (4 April 2006) –- Astronaut/aquanaut Nicole P. Stott and Ross Hein, a professional aquanaut from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW), assist University of Cincinnati physician Tim Broderick apply a net with electrodes for an electroencephalogram (EEG) study. Broderick is participating in an experiment that studies brain activity while performing simulated surgical procedures. He is staying inside the Aquarius Underwater Laboratory off the coast of Key Largo, Florida April 3-20 as part of the ninth NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO). NEEMO 9 is part of a cooperative project of NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery in Canada.
