NASA Explorer Schools has two types of participants:
- Classroom Teachers: Have full access to the Virtual Campus, all lessons, resources and special events. Eligible to apply for recognition opportunities.
- Special Access: Have full access to the Virtual Campus, all lessons, resources and special events but are not eligible to apply for recognition opportunities.
A “Classroom Teacher” is a U.S. citizen who is a certified administrator or educator in a state or nationally accredited education institution (grades 4-12) in the United States or a U.S. territory, or in a Department of Defense or Department of State school.
A “Special Access” participant is one of the following:
- A non-U.S. citizen who is a certified administrator, educator or support staff member in a state or nationally accredited education institution (grades 4-12) in the United States or a U.S. territory, or in a Department of Defense or Department of State school.
- Works in some aspect of education at a U.S. informal institution.
- An administrator or educator in a U.S. higher education institution.
- A pre-service educator at a U.S. institution.
- A U.S. homeschool teacher.
