This application will collect survey data from the public via a web survey tool for new Centennial Challenge prize formulation. Legislation Authority is described under HR 6063 Section 314 (b), (National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 (42 U.S.C. 2451, et seq. as amended in 2005) states the following: In selecting topics for prize competitions, the Administrator shall consult widely both within and outside the Federal Government, and may empanel advisory committees.
This web survey will collect the follow data sets: 1) Title of Challenge, 2) objective/performance requirements of the Challenge, 3) monetary prize value, 4) which area of NASA's technologies does the proposed prize address, 5) National or Global needs beyond NASA's scope, 6) Proposed new opportunities/partnerships for NASA. The agency will use the data collected from the web survey to assist with the Centennial Challenges new prize formulation. IIF for this survey is voluntarily provided by the users should they desire to provide it. These elements of IIF are not used for the retrieval of records from the system. (llF data rnay include: Name, Affiliation, Zip Code, Occupation, and E-mail Address).
IIF will be an optional input from the public via the web survey. This data is NOT necessary for a successful survey to occur.
The option to include IIF in the survey will potentially be used for the purpose of recognition of an idea
(submission). If a new prize is formulated from a survey input, we would like to have the option to contact that individual for further discussion and/or public recognition based upon receiving proper consent from the individual that submitted the idea. Contacting this individual would be accomplished by information voluntarily attached to the survey itself as opposed to retrieving the surveyor information by the IIF.
The agency will NOT share any IIF.
The IIF will be obtained via a web survey (set of optional questions) from the general public and be used if NASA chooses to recognize that specific submission, upon the consent of the submitter. This effort will include some form of electronic notification. Upon gaining consent from that individual(s),
NASA may publicly recognize the individual(s) for his/her idea contribution.
Individuals under the age of 13 are not restricted from submitting information via the web survey,
however, this age group is not a targeted source of information.
The IIF will be stored in a secure database (username/password protected) that restricts all access.
Exception: select database administrators, developers, and contractors will be authorized access to the IIF for system administration and development/testing purposes.
Plans for retention/destruction of IIF fall under the NRRS 1178G schedule.
